No Weed Cloth in Gardens

Installing weed cloth in garden beds is a short term fix for weeds that results in long term problems for your garden.

As soon as you cut into weed cloth, you have disrupted its ability to properly suppress weeds. The cloth will no longer function as a continuous barrier as it does in all rock areas. The weeds surface at the base of purposeful plants, but manual weeding is no longer effective because access to roots is blocked.

 

Weed cloth interferes with drainage, aeration, biodynamic life and nutrient dispersal. We do not install it in any of our new gardens and recommend removing it wherever we find it within an existing garden.
